How sweet are these two?

Can you believe that they are 84 and 93? I just love that she is all decked out with the white dress, fur shrug and tiara and he is wearing a hat and tails. I love this quote from London's Daily Mail, too:

Deputy superintendent registrar Christine Howle told the ceremony: "If you have an open heart love can find you whatever time of life you are in."

They just look so excited and happy. Go read for a little warm fuzzy.

We went to maymont Saturday. He was off work. Nothing exciting. He doesn't ever get the idea for us to take photos together. It seems normal to him that we hang out. Almost as if its not as special as before. I miss our first few dates. The 'newness' of it felt like a dream. He enjoyed coming to see me and going out. He has this look in his eyes that showed how excited he was. Now, its blank and bored.

I hate thinking that we lost the 'luster' that our relationship use to have. It would almost be better if we just never lived together and saw each other on special occasions...that way he would appreciate it more. I do not believe it is right to break it all off just because you do not have that spark that you once had. And, that is why we planned that trip for August. Our vacation. Our time to get away and just be with one another. Enjoy ourselves without the problems of being at home. No work, no real worries. Vacation.

When is a vacation not enough? When is it right to want more? To deserve more? I want more. I tell him about how happy i am. But, he cant say how happy he will be when we move in together. I am not going to move in with him unless i know there is going to be more than just living together. i want a promise. i want a lifetime. I want what any woman deserves...to be happy. He says he loves me. I believe him. But the words do not sing a sweet melody as before. They feel lukewarm. I have heard it so much...i almost feel numb to it.

Numb to love...how did i get to this point? I love the idea of being in love. All of the sweet morning kisses, the beautiful smiles to those who are truly in love. The thought of waking up to 'the one'....the one single person who completes you. Even if its impossible, its a perfect ideal.

I want more. I need more.

i would have to say robert frost is one of my favorite poets. ive taken a class just on poetry and this poet never ceases to amaze me. he really has amazing work. i really identify with his poem 'road less traveled'. ive moved a lot in my 22 years of living on this beautiful green earth and ive found myself at 'crossroads' in my life where ive had to make choice...choices that would change my life...and after making them, i realize what my choice has given me and what it has taken away. this poem is really much like my own voice...im not a usual person to 'follow trends' but i do find what i like and i adopt it. i think poetry gives you more than something to identify with; it gives you inspiration and it helps you identify with someone else...about something that maybe you didnt understand before. Robert Frost writes so smoothly that it seems he is writing his own 'music' ...something so smooth and clear that the message is right there waiting for you to grab it. Frost does give subtle hints to what lies underneath but he gives you the message right there...just like in this poem....the road less traveled....and how he decided to do something that no one ever did... he took a chance...a leap of faith (if you will) into the unknown...he wanted adventure...and although he says that he will tell this with a sigh later....he realizes that he would do better making the choice of going down the path where he couldnt see where it lead or the turns up ahead. 

this poem often reminds me of someone's life...where they have to make a choice between two lovers. If they were to choose the first lover, they would know exactly how their life would turn out...what it would look like in the future...they would have everything planned out accordingly (much like the predictable path). However, the second lover (or the road less traveled), has an unexpected surprise....something they are unaware of. The second lover gives them a life where they do not know what is going to happen...the type of life where they are not completely sure how their life will turn out in 10...20...50 years. Now, most people like knowing where they will be later on down the road...and would choose the first lover...because its a security for them. But, others would choose the second lover...the one where they wouldnt know what life would give them with that person. Its the element of surprise....the adventure that they love...the risk they take with the unknown left to find.

See...this is why i love this poem...i could write all day about it....but im not...im gonna post it and allow everyone to see what they want out of this poem. Enjoy!

there are a lot of great songs that remind me of my current relationship....its hard to choose just one. To find someone as wonderful as the person i have is quite difficult for most to find...and sometimes even harder to keep. how do you describe in words a feeling so wonderful (and so painful) as love. Its nearly an impossible feat but i know that most songwriters get a glimpse of what love truly is in their songs. How do you describe my relationship in one song....wow...thats truly hard to pick the 'one' song that defines what my relationship is........ Instead, i can create a playlist! But, to ensure this will not drag on, it will be somewhat short....

• Every year around 1 billion Valentine Cards are sent across. After Christmas it’s a single largest seasonal card-sending occasion.
  

• Teachers receive the most Valentine's Day cards, followed by children, mothers, wives, and then, sweethearts. Children between ages 6 to 10 exchange more than 650 million Valentine's cards with teachers, classmates, and fagmily members.

• Received Valentine Flowers? Well I guess you are a woman. Of the 73% of people who buy Valentine's Day flowers are men, while only 27 percent are women.
  

• A single perfect red rose framed with baby's breath is named by some florists as a "signature rose," and is the preferred choice for most for giving on Valentine's Day, anniversaries and birthdays.
  
  
• The red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love. The color red stands for strong romantic feelings making the red rose the flower of love.

• Cupid is a symbol of Valentine’s Day. Cupid was associated with Valentine’s Day because he was the son of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty. Cupid often appears on Valentine cards and gift tokens holding a bow and arrows as he is believed to use magical arrows to arouse feelings of love.

• The most beautiful and incredible gift of love is the monument Taj Mahal in India. Built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his wife it stands as the emblem of the eternal love story. Work on the Taj Mahal began in 1634 and continued for almost 22 years and required the labor of 20,000 workers from all over India and Central Asia.
  
  
• In America, the pilgrims used to sent confections, such as sugar wafers, marzipan, sweetmeats and sugar plums, to their affianced. Instead, you are consumed by thoughts of her . She just pops into your head for no apparent reason, and you wonder if she thinks of you half as much as you think of her. You wonder what she's up to and even consider calling her (but refrain from doing so for fear of looking overeager).

But it gets worse. You're out with your friends and you see something in a shop window and think about how much she would like that particular item, or you notice a poster for a show that she would love, but normally wouldn't even have looked twice at it.

If she's the last thing on your mind before you go to sleep and the first thing on your mind when you wake up -- and you've even dreamed of her on a couple of occasions -- then you don't really even need to read on to know if you're in love (but should anyway, just to be sure).

You care about her
There is a reason why you don't really want to know too much about the chick you had a one-night stand with: you don't love her. When you're in love with a woman, you want to know all about her: who she is, what she thinks, what makes her laugh. You truly care about her and her feelings.

If you truly love a woman, you feel bad if she had a bad day or is upset about something. You don't try to cheer her up because you have to , but because you can't help it.

You find her quirks charming
The fact that she carries her passport with her everywhere she goes -- just in case -- and that, when she's eating, she can't help but construct every forkful, so that it is the perfect blend of ingredients, fills you with an inexplicable feeling of happiness.

She does and says things that make her different, and you like it. You can't quite put your finger on why, but it doesn't even matter. You like her just the way she is.

You have great chemistry
You can't be in love with someone that you have no chemistry with. If you and her seem to always be on the same wavelength, and think in similar ways, that's a great sign. If you also generate enough heat to set off a five-alarm fire bell, then she is probably someone that you could fall in love with, if you aren't there already.

You don't notice other women as much

You don't mind compromising sometimes
There was a time when it was your way or the highway, but, with her it's different. Not that she asks you to, but you don't mind missing a night out with the guys to be with her. And you find yourself trying to incorporate her into your plans or altering them to accomodate her.

You also find yourself not putting up a fight when she wants to go to Shakespeare in the Park. Although your friends find this very amusing, you know that deep down, they wish that they had found a love like yours.

Other priorities take a backseat
You used to train religiously, but lately, if she's free for dinner, you don't mind missing a workout. Not only that, but your workaholic tendency of bringing home your work on weekends to get ahead seems a bit excessive to you as of late.

This would have to be the last time i saw my great-grandmother. she was an amazing woman. i never had the chance to say goodbye to her when she died. But, i did see her the summer before she passed. She was in the hospital and it was bad. she has the flu and was not doing so well. i had not seen her in months...which i hated. i always begged to go see her but no one would take me. Finally, when i had the chance to go and did, i cried. she looked so hurt. it looked as if she had fallen out of the bed. the bruises on her arms looked horrible. it was one of the most upsetting times simply because ive never seen her that bad. She died my senior year of high school. i was so upset. she was like a mother to me and never gave up on me. i would have done anything in my power to save her. they say she went in her sleep..which is what i wanted for her. she had been in pain so long and being 92, she had endured a lot of things in her life. She is my hero. I have her middle name as mine. i dont have many pictures of her but the memory of her will always live through me.
